[Like her being off-beat earned her the insane asylum.] You treat her very well. [And given his mother means the world to Wylan, as does Jesper, having her and Jesper get along makes him immeasurably happy.]

Waffles, definitely. With all the syrup they have. You can tell us all about your remarkable and entirely crime free escapades.

Does the girl marry the beast? If so that sounds like a story I know and frankly the girl could have done better.

Jesper arrives with only a small knock before he's opening the door and stepping through. "So what brilliant idea do you have at 2:30 in the morning?"

[Kaz is, as always, at his desk rather than in his nearby bed. He's very casually dressed though, in a state that only a few get to see. Shoes are off, tie is gone, his leg is resting on his nearby stool and his hair is falling forward rather than perfectly slicked back. He's still in a suit based on technicality rather than spirit. His laptop is being typed upon by a ball is resting on his desk, a silent agreement that he desperately wants to take a break and play with his friend.]

Why do you think the Tidemakers who can control the seas are indebt to the Council so heavily they submerged the bridge to Shu Han just so Kerch could enjoy its isolationism?

Jesper walks over to to Kaz's desk, picks up the ball before making himself comfortable in one of the chairs across from the desk. He gives the ball a squeeze as he considers the question.

"I don't imagine it's high gambling debts," he muses and tosses the ball to Kaz.

We can do prose. :)

Kaz catches the ball in one hand, spinning it in his fingers for a moment before tossing it back towards Jesper. "No, I don't imagine it is. This seems deeper than a pocketbook - and I of all people wouldn't say that lightly." There is very little in the world Kaz would place as more precious than money. "There has to be records of what happened somewhere. The university's library came up with nothing. My spyders haven't overheard anything. But some of those old Council families have to keep a record of something somewhere, because they all know the value of holding records over one's head too much to leave absolutely no paper trail."

He catches the ball and tosses it between his hands for a moment before tossing it back to Kaz. No, he wouldn't say something like that lightly. Money has one of the highest values that something can have in his life and in a place like Ketterdam? That was entirely fair.

"Who of the families do you think is more likely to have that information?"
