You know, I joke about my memoir but I used to write. Maybe one day I will write your biography and I can make it as audacious as you could ever imagine. Or very serious, I guess.

But you're right, most biographies are only looking at things from the outside in, you're not seeing the entire picture. And I suppose if they're still alive, that's for the best.

I can see you doing that. I never had the time or supplies to write for pleasure growing up, although I did once redesign the city using sticks and dirt.

Just make sure that any and all stories about me are never more honest than a half-truth and have a lot of contradictions folded in to keep people guessing.

I can see the ingenuity and deviousness started at a young age. That's impressive.

Absolutely. I promise that should I write one, it will be exactly that. It will be the most convoluted book I ever write but also the one I would enjoy the most in writing.

[ No, she is not thinking about any such time that she will lose the people who mean the most to her - including Kaz. Definitely not. She's come a long way in the last decade but potentially losing people she cares about is something that is hard for her to come to terms with still.

Some days, deep deep down inside, she just wants to stomp her foot and demand no one die on her but that wasn't life and she knows that. Even if she loathes it at the same time. ]

As it should considering what you get up to these days compared to when you were nine.

Surely this will shock you but magic and adventure. Before... everything happened, I started writing about us. Only a more fictionalized version.

I thought as much, but wanted to leave room in case you decided instead to dedicate your time to writing about the origins of pretzel chips.

Not only would I put my reader to sleep but I would be put to sleep writing about it!

I’ve read entire books on salt, Piper. Pretzels use salt. There’s a hook there, and you’re talented enough to bridge the gap. I trust you could make it work.

That's only smart. Salt can be used in a number of ways - for food, the occult, and how it affects the human body in small and large quantities. Not to mention how it could be used in a number of other concoctions.

Pretzels however are not nearly as intriguing.

The origin of a food can be a very useful insight into the culture, advancement, and intersectionality of regions at a particular time and place in history. I wouldn't discount the pretzels story or its chip descendant just yet.

Then again I am a history nerd, I've been told.

I see what you're doing Brekker. And, I won't lie, now that you put it in those terms it is tempting.

How about this, you do the research and I will write it. It'll be some sort of coauthored book that we can write under pen names.

We'll make it happen, I don't think Nina will mind me speaking for her in this case. Also, I hear Lantsov’s prattle so much these days that I’m unfortunately starting to understand him even when he does speak Ravkan. It was much easier to tune him out when I didn’t.

What you see is what you get unless I’m making something disappear to annoy you. I find that also a valid use of my time and a vital component of my personality.
